Merlins class contains six students and six staff each day. There are 5 full time staff in Steve, Nikki, Karen, Debra and Sylvie, supported by Jen (0.6) and Jo (0.4)

Although based in class, the idea is that we integrate with other sixth form classes. We also have another designated classroom which is used by one particular pupil at times.

Literacy and numeracy are to be taught using the TEACCH method and general communication skills using speech, Makaton and symbols. A lot of work will also be done on independent living skills and this includes helping to prepare our own lunch each Tuesday.

One student will attend Chichester College each Thursday and some will take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. There will also be opportunities for sensory experiences, art / craft projects, music, swimming and rebound in school plus a range of community based activities such as woodland walks, ten pin bowling and visiting local cafes.

We are a lively group who intend to work hard while having a lot of fun. It is unlikely to be a boring year!
