We are a class of 9 students aged 16, 17 and 18 years. Seven of us were in Eagles class last year, and two of us have moved up from Panthers class.

We enjoy many different activities, particularly those that involve going out. We enjoy shopping and then cooking our own lunch. We also enjoy visits to our local community, both within walking distance, and going out on the school mini bus.

Some of us are going to be going to Chichester College, while other members of the class will be going to Chichester College’s Brinsbury Campus. The college sessions will be on Thursdays. Many of us have signed up to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. We have to work on four sections – Physical, Volunteering, Skills and Expedition. For our Physical section we are canoeing on Chichester canal. For Skills we are doing cookery or drama, and for our Volunteering we are working with the National Trust.

We have a very busy timetable at school, working on functional skills, ASDAN and ‘Personal Progress’ related tasks. We take part in different activities working on our independent living skills. This year we are looking at recognizing our ‘rights and responsibilities’, and we are learning how we can look after ourselves and share what makes us all individuals. We make our own choices where possible, particularly when it comes to break times where we can make our own drinks including juice or a cup of tea or coffee.

The students in Eagles Class have become great friends and a good team. All of the students enjoy being part of Eagles, and help each other to overcome the challenges that form part of life at school and in the community.
