A very warm welcome to Dolphins class!

Our team consists of Ski, Rachel, Debbie and Nikki. Dolphins class consists of year 7, 8 and 9 students (Secondary Department). Our students follow the National Curriculum which is adapted to suit individual needs. Some students in the class access additional resources in the sensory rooms that the school provide. The class work on phonics, handwriting, reading and writing skills as well as number, shape, measures and statistics.

Each term we focus on a new topic and we have regular Secondary department days and weekly assemblies where we share the work we have created with our peers in other secondary classes. Students are encouraged to work together, sharing, helping others and taking turns as well as working independently and trying our best to complete things on our own and develop our independence skills.

We have a structured timetable that includes working on a wide range of subjects including science, cooking, art, history, geography, PE and swimming. We have termly IEPs (Individual Education Plans) where our teachers, parents and other professionals set targets for us, sometimes we help to set these targets (where applicable).

We have an MMA called Jackie who helps us at lunchtime and playtime. She works with Dolphin’s team to develop our play skills at lunchtime and also helps us at dinner time to cut up our dinner if we need help.

In the Secondary department we perform in a various plays, attend community projects and we also have opportunities to experience various events hosted within the Secondary Department and Whole school. .

In Dolphins Class we have lots of fun! Encouraging everyone to take part and have a turn to try and achieve the best that they can!
