Key Stage 5

Sixth Form

At sixth form level the students focus on preparation for transition, focussing on development of the life skills they will need when they leave school. They follow a broad three year curriculum which has an emphasis on life skills. Students are accredited through the Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN). They are able to achieve awards and qualifications in modules and units from the ‘Towards Independence’ programme, the ‘Personal Progress’ programme and the ‘Personal and Social Development’ programme. They complete a range of functional and skill- based modules such as Meal Preparation, Citizenship, Sport and Leisure, Personal Care and Personal Safety, Numeracy and Literacy. In addition, most students are able to gain certificates from Chichester College and Brinsbury College, in a variety of subjects including hair and beauty, catering and construction. Students also have the opportunity to follow a number of leisure options both on and off site including a range of activities such as rebound therapy, trampolining , golf, bowling and swimming. The majority of students take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme as well as having opportunities to do work experience. The excellent care, guidance and support that they receive ensure that our students are prepared for life as an adult once they leave us.
